In the first quarter of 2024, the top 5 medical apps in South Africa showed varied performance in terms of downloads and user engagement, according to data from Sensor Tower.

Netcare saw a fluctuating download trend throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads peaked at approximately 7.5K in mid-January and then experienced a dip, reaching around 3.8K by the end of March.

Mediclinic Baby had a significant spike in downloads towards the end of February, hitting around 4.8K. However, this was followed by a sharp decline, with weekly downloads dropping to approximately 305 by the end of March.

Ampath experienced a gradual decline in weekly downloads over the quarter. Starting at around 893 downloads in the first week of January, the app's downloads decreased to about 725 by the end of March.

Lancet Labs Mobile showed a robust download performance, peaking at around 2.5K in late January. The app maintained steady download numbers, ending the quarter with approximately 1.6K downloads. The app also had a notable increase in weekly active users, starting at around 544 in early January and peaking at 1.9K by the end of the same month.
